Michelle Hickerson practices in the areas
of commercial real estate, secured lending
and general corporate law. Michelle’s
broad real estate experience includes the
representation of institutional lenders
and borrowers in loan transactions; purchasers
and sellers in real estate acquisitions,
divestitures and 1031 exchanges; landlords
and tenants in commercial lease negotiations
and controversies; and local counsel representation.
Michelle has extensive experience representing
regional and national financial institutions
and life insurance companies in connection
with the financing of major real estate
projects, including retail, office, industrial,
assisted living, hotel and multifamily developments.
Michelle
graduated from Colgate University with a
major in chemistry and a minor in mathematics.
While at Emory University, she served as
Editor-in-Chief of the Bankruptcy Developments
Journal (1992-1993).
Prior
to becoming a partner with Tatum Hillman
Hickerson & Powell, LLP, Michelle was
a commercial real estate partner with Tatum,
Levine and Powell, LLP (Atlanta, 2001-2009);
an associate in the business practices group
of Jones Day Reavis & Pogue (Atlanta,
1995-2001) and an associate at Weinstock
& Scavo, P.C. (Atlanta, 1993-1994).
Michelle
and her husband have four children. In her
spare time, Michelle enjoys home restoration
and decorating, cooking, piano and Irish
dance. Michelle also is a weekly newspaper
columnist for The Dublin Courier-Herald.
